Bachelor of Science Degree Program - 180 Quarter Credit Hours

Not seeking to enroll students.

The Business Management Bachelor Degree program seeks to provide business students with a thorough understanding of theory and application related to the business environment so graduates are able to collect and analyze data, identify alternative solutions and select the most appropriate course of action for specific business problems. The program seeks to also develop knowledge and skills in research, critical thinking, problem-solving, and current technology for application and use in communication, data collection/analysis, and solving business issues. Furthermore, students will be provided with an understanding of professional ethics and its application to the business environment. Students may also choose to specialize professional electives in one of four functional areas or remain generalized in a variety of business management offerings.

Program Objectives


Upon graduation, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a working knowledge of business terminology.
  2. Evaluate business roles and responsibilities within a global context.
  3. Apply a framework for ethical problem solving to complex situations encountered in the workplace.
  4. Produce effective business communication for various audiences.
  5. Objectively interpret business data to identify potential solutions and make organizational decisions.


Students enrolled in the Business Management Bachelor of Science Degree program who wish to focus on a specific area of study may choose to complete a specialization in that area of study by successfully completing the designated courses listed below to satisfy the professional elective requirements of this program. Courses taken to complete a concentration at the associate degree level will apply toward the specialization requirement at the bachelor degree level.

A student who completes the courses required for a specialization will be awarded one of the following credentials:

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a Specialization in Finance.
  • Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a Specialization in Human Resources.
  • Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a Specialization in Marketing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a Specialization in Project Management.

Students are not required to complete a specialization. Students who choose not to complete a specialization will earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Management degree.

I Students who reside more than 60 miles from a campus offering this program of study must complete the capstone course in place of the Internship. Students enrolled through the Fort Wayne campus must complete the capstone course in place of the Internship. Please refer to the Experiential Learning  section of this catalog for additional information.
PE Professional electives for the Business Management-BS program must be selected from courses listed below. Students may be required to take elective courses online.
Program Length: The Business Management-BS program is 180 weeks in length and 2,079 or 2,151 clock hours.

Program Delivery: The Business Management-BS program is offered in residential, distance learning, or a combination of both types of instructional delivery formats.

Business Management Specialization and Electives


Students are required to complete 24 elective credits (six courses) to fulfill the professional elective requirements. Students wishing to complete a specialization must complete five elective courses from a single set listed below in addition to the required program courses. Each course is four credit hours. Students are not required to complete a specialization as they fulfill their elective requirements. Students may be required to take these courses online.
