CJ 4550 - Advanced Criminalistics

4 Credit Hours

This course introduces the processes and procedures for the preservation, processing, analysis, evaluation, and presentation of physical evidence found at the scene of a crime. The course provides the opportunity to learn and practice the skills, techniques, and interpretation that the laboratory analyst utilizes to test physical evidence brought to the laboratory. The course includes testing processes such as biometrics (DNA), latent prints, chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, explosive, cryptanalysis, firearms, tool marks, questioned documents, and trace evidence. Prerequisite(s): CJ 2500  or CJ 2550 ; CJ 2995 ; MAT 1500  or equivalent; College-level chemistry.
